Giddy up for a Great Cause: SFB’s First Charity Race Day Raises Over $62,500 for Beaucare.
On Saturday 23rd May, we proudly hosted our first Saturday Smoko out Bush with the Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club.
The Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club has a proud history of using racing to give back to the community. For more than 75 years, its annual Charity Raceday has brought together local businesses, families and supporters to raise vital funds for charitable causes across the region, making it one of Queensland’s most enduring community fundraising events.
Held at the picturesque Aquis Beaudesert racecourse, over 500 people joined us for a fantastic day in the sun resulting in a $62,863 donation. You can read more about Beaucare here.

“We have been amazed and humbled by the generosity of so many people and 100% of the amount raised will be invested back into vulnerable people living in our community receiving the services they need to prevent homelessness, DV, child neglect, relationship breakdown, suicide etc.
We will also be able to assist some of our elderly clients who are struggling to manage the co-payment required for their supports after the changes that came into the sector in November 2025.
This will provide a bridge for a small number of them to maintain services while managing to negotiate the changes. This donation will support hundreds of our community members and we are so incredibly grateful!”
Louise Dwyer – General Manager, Beaucare
From just our subcontractors, we were able to raise $60,103.
Across the day there were 6 horse races, all named after some of our trusted subbies. We had the:
- DG Building Concepts Hibernian Cup Class 3 Handicap 1200m
- HH Civil Group BM65 Handicap 1100m
- Bowkett Earthmoving BM 55 Handicap 1400m
- EZY Kitchens BM 60 Handicap 1650m
- Surface Projects BM50 Handicap 1100m
- Burke Constructions QTIS 2YO and up 1400m
While the action on the track kept everyone entertained, some of the biggest highlights happened off it.
One of the crowd favourites was the yabby racing – a unique offering whereby yabbies are auctioned off before being “raced” along a timber track.
From just two races, we were able to raise an additional $2,760 for Beaucare.
A huge thank you to Aquis Beaudesert, Racing Queensland, the Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club and Beaucare for their partnership, support and commitment to making the event a success.
Most importantly, thank you to every subcontractor, supplier, staff member and other friends of the SFB Family who attended, donated, sponsored or contributed in any way. Your generosity helped turn an idea into an event that raised more than $60,000 for a worthy local cause.
For a first event, we couldn’t have asked for a better result.
Giddy up!
